NOTES: John 20:18-23 First gathering of Jesus' Church
Made up of individual members and they have their own revelations of Christ. Their hearts were burning for Jesus.
They were a special group, each bringing their personal experience and relationship with Jesus.
[Personal Notes] I believe that God wants every believer to have a intimate personal relationship with Jesus. As we know Jesus, we know the Father. We have apostles and prophets that proclaim the Word to us, we have teachers that can explain the syntax of the Word, we have evangelist that can touch our emotions with the saving power of the Word and we have pastors that administer the Word of love to our situation, but we all need that personal relationship with the Lord where the Holy Spirit gives direct revelation that leads towards His destiny for us.
This is where we find our place in His church that fits the way He made us. It is like having your own personal doctrine straight from the Holy Spirit. The Church is not an institution where everyone robotic-ly walks in one non-changing doctrine. This is how the denominations got started. The Church of Jesus Christ is individuals, walking in a unity of relationship with each other that respects how God has lead each of us personally. We are to respect how God has developed each of us for the work that He has called us to.
I don't really like the word doctrine but prefer evolving revelation. As we get to know Him more, the more we discover about Him and the more we know His ways. Once He had Moses hit the rock and once He had him speak to the rock.
